Role of the Coach
Coaches play a very important role in the Queen Anne Soccer Club. Our coaches are:
- the primary point of contact between the QASC and our players/parents.
- the ones who work with the children - teaching them about soccer, sportsmanship, and making sure they're having a great experience!
- ambassadors of the Queen Anne Soccer Club when our teams play opponents from neighboring communities.
Currently we are facing a shortage in the number of coaches for some age-groups. If you are interested in coaching for the club or if you simply want to know more about what is involved in being a soccer coach, please review the information that follows. Any questions you have may be directed to Bill Bassett, Commissioner, at webassett13@yahoo.com.
Administration Coaches are required to have an original signed copy of the Authorization to Play and Waiver form for each player at all club related events (practices and games). Also, each player (U10 and above) is required to sign a Code of Conduct form, and each coach is required to sign a form as well. Links to these forms are below.
Coach's Training Queen Anne Soccer Club encourages all Mod coaches are required to obtain at least a United States Soccer Federation "F" license. Coaches for teams at U11-U14 are suggested to have an "E" license and U15-U19 should have a "D" license. There are numerous coaching clinics available each year, as well as books and videotapes available to help coaches learn the game.
The club will also conduct training sessions for coaches. This year, we are using a partnership with the Challenger Soccer program to develop a unique and focused program of both coach and player development.

Practice Fields The practice field coordinator will be in touch with each team to sort out the fall schedule in late August. Younger teams normally practice twice a week for one hour. Older teams are assigned two days per week, 90 minutes per practice, starting with the first week before games. Older teams generally have more priority. The club does its best to accommodate everyone's needs with our limited resources. There are often three and sometimes four teams sharing the same field, so coordination with fellow coaches to take turns using the goals is very important.
Proof of Age (for players) The Registrar is required to keep copies of proof of age for all registered players. Photocopies of any of following documents are acceptable: Birth certificate, Passport, Birth Registration Board of Health Record, Alien Registration Card, Immigration Certificate The photocopies will be shredded for non-returning players.
Coaches will be responsible for ensuring all players submit proof of age documents. The club will set up a system to facilitate this process.
Risk Management Each coach, assistant coach, manager, or trainer must have a current Risk Management clearance to work with the kids. this clearance is now automatically filed by WSYSA when each coach (and other volunteers) register as a coach. All coaches and volunteers are required to register.
Coach/Volunteer Registration
Team Officials Each team is required to officially register coaches and volunteers with the team. Each team must have a Head Coach and Team Parent (or Team Manager).
