What does “MOD Program” mean?
Modified Soccer is a small-sided program where the field size and the number of players on the field is reduced to age appropriate levels. The Seattle Youth Soccer Association (SYSA) follows the Washington State Youth Soccer Association (WSYSA) guidelines for modified play. This allows for players to have the maximum amount of participation on smaller fields.

Explain the “U” designation (as in U12).
The “U” essentially stands for “under.” Players are placed on teams based upon their age, as of July 31st of the current year. See the age group chart to determine which age group your player falls under. Players can play on a older level team (for instance, a 14 year old can play on a U16 team - this is referred to as "playing-up"). Players cannot play on a younger team level.

My son has been playing on an older team. Which U designation do I register him for?
Our new registration system organizes players by their base age group. You need to register your son as if he plays with his normal age group and indicate in the Special Requests section of the from that he played up in the previous year. The Registrar will adjust the team assignments to ensure he is placed on the correct team (based on last year’s team assignments).

Do I really need to submit a birth certificate?
Yes, the Club keeps all birth certificates on file should we need to submit proof to the Seattle Youth Soccer Association or the Washington State League. You only need to provide one copy, one time. It's really fairly painless. If you don't have a copy of a birth certificate, a passport or other official document will be accepted.

We're new to the club. Can my daughter play on her friend's team?
New teams are formed with basically random distribution of players and talent. New players to the club are added to a team roster based on the overal needs of the teams at their age level. Please see our team formation guidelines for more information.

My son "played up" last year to be with his school classmates. Will he be placed on the same team again?

Teams are mostly kept the same from the previous year, but there is not a guarantee that he will be on the same team. Generally, we will attempt to place him on the same team as last year - if you specifically request it in the comments field of the registration form.

What are the typical practice and game schedules?
Practice times and game schedules are always subject to change. Below is a summary of the general framework:

  • The U6 program conducts practices on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. There are no games, except for informal scrimmages and a jamboree on the final practice session of the season.
  • The U7 program typically practices  on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. There are no games, except for informal scrimmages and a jamboree on the final practice session of the season.
  • The U8 and U9 teams practice on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and play games on Saturdays against teams from other local clubs.
  • The practice times for older teams (U10 and up) cannot be established until we receive our field assignments from the Parks Department. There are typically two practices during the week, and games against other teams in the City of Seattle on Saturdays (and for some older age groups, weeknights and Sundays).

Are there scholarships available?
The Queen Anne Soccer Club is committed to providing opportunities for children to play recreational soccer. Need-based scholarships are available through our Scholarship Fund. Forward a request for scholarship via e-mail to qasoccer@gmail.com or request a scholarship using the mail-in registration process.

To request a scholarship using the online registration process, proceed through the registration process as if you are going to pay via check. Include the scholarship request with the mailing in lieu of submitting payment.

I would like to volunteer as a coach, but I’ve never played soccer.
The Club is dedicated to the development of both players and coaches. We conduct a number of informal training sessions for our coaches, and provide assistance throughout the season. Please volunteer – we’ll provide you with the support you need to effectively coach your team. Register online as a coach or volunteer and our volunteer coordinator will contact you directly to talk about your specific interests.

Help! I have more questions.
If you have more questions about the registration process, volunteer positions with the team or Queen Anne Soccer Club, or anything else, ask your coach or team manager, or e-mail us at qasoccer@gmail.com  Please remember that the coaches and club officials are volunteers with kids, jobs, and housework, too. It may take a day or two to get back to you.
